Delmarva Bays

Delmarva Bays are wooded ponds that dry out periodically because they don't have a permanent source of water.

These ponds are home to plants that have adapted to extended flooding along with occasional dry periods.

Many of the specialized plants here are rare and endangered. Hirst's Panicgrass and Awned Meadow Beauty are only known to grow in six places, including Assawoman, in the entire world.
