A new order of White Marlin T's is due in today. If we were out of your size, please check back. This has been a great crabbing year and we have plenty of crabbing supplies in stock. There is plenty of time to enjoy a crab fest so check out the various traps, nets, tongs, drop lines and replacement parts for your pots including turtle excluders.

Fishing News

--Frank, Frank,Jr, Ed and Mike Bailor and Don Welsh went out on the "Marlin Magic" and caught 14 dolphin 27"-44" on ballyhoo in the Washington Canyon.
--According to Bobby at the Pier, spot and croaker are being caught in good numbers on bloods and fishbites. He also said people are catching slot stripers and flounder.
--The IRI is producing lots of short flounder tossing minnows, Gulp and shiners.
--Surf fishermen report sharks and skates hitting the beach and biting on fresh mullet and fresh bunker. Some kingfish also are being caught in the mix on fishbite bloodworms and real bloodworms.
--Bob Adams and Tom Bailor caught their 2 bushel limit of blue crabs near Gull Point using a trot line with chicken necks.
--Nick Wiest, of Philadelphia, boated a citation 8.61 lb. flounder drifting the IRI using chartreuse Gulp.
--Heard from Rick of Ricks Bait and Tackle in Long Neck: "Weighed in a 12 lb, 11 oz flattie caught in IRI by Lisa Koshinskie of Coal Township in Pa. while aboard the "Aquaholic" with Capt Bill Koshinskie at the helm."
--Sue Foster of Oyster Bay Tackle reports a keeper striper was caught in the surf in OC along with sharks, kingfish, spot and croaker. Anglers are doubling up their minnow and shiner baits with Gulp to attract the bigger flounder. Some really big bluefish hit the Rt. 50 Bridge at night and early morning on Gotcha Plugs. Offshore, sharks, tuna, marlin and a good amount of dolphin are being caught. Triggerfish and tog are being taken from the inlets. Seabass fishing is spotty.
--Captain Carey Evans of "Grizzly Sportfishing" emailed us with news of his charters. He informed us that croakers showed up and triggerfish have finally made a showing. Some nice flounder were harvested along with plenty of throw backs.
Clarifications on the Striper Slot Regulations

Any striped bass less than or greater than the slot size of 20" to 26" total length, must be released during the special season of July 1 through August 31 within the specified area. The 28" minimum size is in effect during all other months.

Paddlin' for the Bays

"Paddlin' for the Bays", sponsored by the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays, The Bayfront at Rehoboth Community and Quest Fitness in Lewes. It will be held Sat., Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to all ages and will feature kayak poker paddle and cook-out to raise funds for habitat restoration. White Marlin Open

New departure inlets for 2010! Boats participating in the 2010 White Marlin Open may leave from ANY INLET BETWEEN RUDEE INLET VIRGINIA and BARNEGAT INLET NEW JERSEY. All fish must be weighed at the official scale at Harbor Island Marina in Ocean City, MD., Aug 2-6- Fishing 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM Fish any 3 days-Weigh-in 4:00 PM – 9:15 PM,

Mid-Atlantic Tournament

The 19th edition of the Mid-Atlantic, $500,000 Tournament, will be held the week of August 15-20 at the Canyon Club Resort Marina in Cape May. The tournament’s signature port, and the Sunset Marina in Ocean City, Maryland, are the event’s only official satellite port.

White marlin T's are going fast. We have a variety of colors and sizes. Due to many requests, we have just received a shipment of Crowder fishing rods. These rods are popular in Florida and have a lifetime warranty.

Fishing News

--Joshua Greenberg, age 13, and Jake Franklin, age 8, from Richmond, VA went to the Pier again on Wednesday and kept 25 croaker and another 9 spot. Bloodworm and squid combo proved to be their lucky bait on both trips last week.
--Jim Jones fished at Massey's Canyon and caught a 33" bluefin tuna along with an 18 lb gaffer dolphin and also a peanut dolphin.
--Al Boyd nailed 2 keeper flounder at the IRI tossing squid and minnows.
--Bull minnows were the bait of choice for John Focht who managed 2 flounder up to 21" while drifting in his boat "Sea Legs" at Massey's Ditch.
--Dave Major, Skip Moseij, Joe Brotman and Capt Kenny G on the "Just Right 4" caught 6 dolphin, 12-17 lbs trolling naked bally at the Elephant Truck.
--Bob Adams of Bill's Sport Shop and Jim Schafer on the "Abigale" caught dolphin including a 19.8 lb citation, trolling cedar plugs and bally at the Teacup.
--Tom Moran fished on the "Reel Life" with Joe and trolled the Tea Cup with ballyhoo picking up a 29.5 lb dolphin along with 2 smaller ones.
--Sue Foster of Oyster Bay Tackle reports flounder being caught on a jig head with Gulp Swimming Mullet at the 9th Street Pier.
--H.D. Parsons on the "Thelma Dale" out of Lewes, reports that flounder fishing is good at the 14' Light. H.D. also let us know that croaker have shown up in the Shears.
-Capt. Carey Evans of the "Grizzly Sportfishing" sent us an email: "The July 1st tog opening once again did not let us down. Flounder fishing is still good, at least with numbers of fish daily. The yellowfin tuna fishing has shown some great results for those trolling in the canyons. With any luck, we will have some great tuna chunking this fall again. Triggerfish and croaker action are both slower than usual but this should pick up."

Google Earth

We now have a link on our home page to access a FREE Google Earth file to get real-time sea surface temperatures on the east coast. This file is produced through a partnership between Rutgers University and the University of Delaware.

Billfish

There are no retention limits for Atlantic sailfish, blue marlin and white marlin, but the NOAA Fisheries encourages recreational anglers to release all billfish alive. The minimum sizes for billfish are as follows: Blue Marlin: 99 inches lower jaw fork length; White Marlin: 66 inches lower jaw fork length; Sailfish: 63 inches lower jaw fork length; Spearfish: Retention prohibited. Lower jaw fork length is a straight line measurement from the tip of the lower jaw to the fork of the caudal fin. The recreational limit on sharks is 1 shark per vessel per trip with a minimum size of 54 inches fork length; plus on Atlantic sharpnose shark per person per trip (no minimum size); plus 1 bonnethead shark per person per trip (no minimum size). None of these fish may be sold. Swordfish and billfish landed must be reported. For swordfish and billfish reporting, call 800-894-5528.
