FISHING NEWS!
This is our first charter/head boat report for 2004 and though reports remain sketchy, we will keep you updated as more boats head to the fishing grounds.

'PANDEMONIUM'
Captain Steve says that he had his first charter this weekend with Dennis Hamm and a bunch of guys that are in the fishing club Rodflexers Sportfishing. The group went in search of bluefish and despite a slow start, by 9 am, the 8 to 11 pound fish surfaced to the top of the water and the fun began. The guys returned to the dock with a catch of 30 to 40 fish and everyone had a good time. Water temperatures were around 62 to 63 degrees and the fish were caught around the Lightship. On Sunday, the charter went fishing on an ocean wreck for sea bass and tog. The sea bass bite was a little slow but the tog cooperated and the charter returned to the dock with their limit of blackfish. Captain Peterson said the bottom temperature for sea bass should be warmer than 52 degrees, but they could only find bottom temperatures around 49 degrees. Captain Steve reported that he heard of a small yellow fin tuna caught out of Ocean City but said not to get too excited as we need a few more warm eddies to roll off the Gulf Stream before the bite really begins. The Pandemonium will be running their first tuna trips starting the 2nd week of June.

'KAREN SUE'
Captain John Nedelka took a group to the Old Grounds and also found sea bass fishing mediocre with anglers catching 8 to 10 per person. They also caught a limit of tau tog with the largest tog hitting the scales at 13 lbs 6 ozs. On another day, the patrons of the Karen Sue were fishing the 8&Mac226;s with eels and Storm Lures and had rockfish up to 40 inches. On Saturday and Sunday a group from York, PA were on board and limited out on tau tog to 11 plus pounds. Captain John reported that the sea bass bite was improving with higher water temperatures.

'FishonCharters'
Captain George Merrick took a group to the rips in Delaware Bay. He reported that the water was alive with big fish. They caught fish in the 40 lb class, several in the 30&Mac226;s, and the average was 20 to 25 pounds. Live eels and live herring were used for bait. Captain George also reported catching blues while trolling the Southeast Grounds. Over the weekend, Captain Merrick fished IRI with live spot and caught a 15 and a 16 lb striper. On Sunday FishonCharters headed south of the Lightship and trolled up 40 blues from 8 to 15 pounds on hoochies and pony tails. Captain Merrick said that the blues were everywhere out there and also heard that they were at the Jack Spot.

'Fin-Fitz'
Captain Dennis Peck has been busy with charters in and around Indian River Inlet. The anglers on Dennis&Mac226; new 27 foot boat have been kept busy catching a variety of fish including a ton of shad, stripers, bluefish, flounder, and a little off the beach--sand sharks. The shad were being caught 2 at a time with spec rigs in white. Dennis reported that in one day his anglers boated and released 13 stripers, but all the fish were shorts caught on white bucktails. Fishing cut bait about 2.5 miles out of IRI; Captain Dennis put his charter on sharks that measured up to 50 inches long and the group caught and released 21 of these bruisers.

'Crikey'
Captain Tom Malewski headed out to some inshore wrecks and reported very nice catches of tau tog. The group also fished the areas around A buoy and SE of B buoy and reported boating some great sea bass.
