• Take the Beltway to I-97 or Route 2 South to Route 50 in Annapolis.
• Take Route 50 across the Bay Bridge and follow the directions below to your favorite beach.

To Ocean City, Maryland: Continue on Route 50 through Easton, Cambridge and Salisbury all the way to Ocean City.

To Lewes, Rehoboth and Dewey: Take Route 50 to Route 404 at Wye Mills. Follow Route 404 and pick up Route 16 East after passing Denton, Md. Travel Route 16 into Sussex County, Del., through Greenwood, Ellendale and Milton, all the way to Route 1 at Broadkill, just 10 miles north of the beaches. Take Route 1 south to Lewes, Rehoboth or Dewey.

• Take I-95 N. (toll) to the Route 896 exit in Newark, Del., and head south on Route 896.
• Just north of Middletown at the grain mill, follow the signs to Route 13.
• Take Route 13 S. to the Route 1 Bypass just north of Smyrna.
• Take the Route 1 Bypass ($1 toll) south to Route 113 at Dover Air Force Base.
• Take Route 113 S. to Milford and follow the directions below to your favorite beach.

To Ocean City, Maryland: At Milford, take Route 113 S. all the way to the Delaware-Maryland line. For North Ocean City, take Route 113 to Route 54 and head east along the Delaware-Maryland state line. For central Ocean City, take Route 113 to Route 90 east across the bridge. For West Ocean City and Downtown Ocean City, take Route 113 to Route 50 East.

To Delaware Beaches: At Milford, take Route 1 S. all the way to the beaches. Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany, South Bethany and Fenwick are all located on Route 1. (Note: If you are driving to Bethany, South Bethany or Fenwick on a Saturday afternoon, you can avoid the Lewes-Rehoboth-Dewey traffic jams by taking Route 113 at Milford and driving south to Route 26 in Dagsboro. Route 26 takes you to Route 1 in Bethany and you can turn south on Route 1 for South Bethany and Fenwick).

• Take I-70 to the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) and head south and east to I-97 or Route 2.
• Take either route south to Route 50 in Annapolis and then follow the directions below to your favorite beach.

To Ocean City, Maryland: Continue on Route 50 through Easton, Cambridge and Salisbury all the way to Ocean City.

To Lewes, Rehoboth and Dewey: Take Route 50 to Route 404 at Wye Mills. Follow Route 404 and pick up Route 16 E. after passing Denton, Md. Travel Route 16 into Sussex County, Del., through Greenwood, Ellendale and Milton, all the way to Route 1 at Broadkill, just 10 miles north of the beaches. Take Route 1 south to Lewes, Rehoboth or Dewey.

• Take I-68 east to I-70 in Hancock, Md.
• Then take I-70 to the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) and head south and east to I-97 or Route 2.
• Take either route south to Route 50 in Annapolis and then follow the directions below to your favorite beach.

To Ocean City, Maryland: Continue on Route 50 through Easton, Cambridge and Salisbury all the way to Ocean City.

To Lewes, Rehoboth and Dewey: Take Route 50 to Route 404. Follow Route 404 and pick up Route 16 E. after passing Denton, Md. Travel Route 16 into Sussex County, Del., through Greenwood, Ellendale and Milton, all the way to Route 1 at Broadkill, just 10 miles north of the beaches. Take Route 1 south to Lewes, Rehoboth or Dewey.

• For All: To make your trip more enjoyable, try to plan your arrival at the beaches at times other than Friday night and Saturday afternoon when beach-going traffic is heaviest. Traffic leaving the beach is heaviest Sunday evenings.
• Keep an eye on the speed limits once you reach the Delmarva Peninsula. Police officers keep a tight rein on the speed limits here.
• From Harford and Cecil Counties: Watch for weekend traffic tie-ups at the Toll Booth on I-95 just after the bridge over the Susquehanna River.
• When you turn east toward Route 13 just north of Middletown, be aware that the speed limit just after you turn east is 25 mph and then 35 mph before reaching 50 mph again.
