The Lost Dolphin

A Childrens Dolphin Story - By Michelle

Deep in the ocean, a mother dolphin was about to go up to the surface to catch a breathe, when a clownfish swam by. The mother dolphin didn't notice. After she took a breath, she swam down, and then a little tail came out from beneath the dolphin. Before the clownfish could swim down to get a better look, the smooth body of a baby dolphin was pushed to the surface to breathe.

When they came back down, the clownfish noticed that on the side of the baby dolphin's mouth was a cute little dimple. I'll call him Dimples, thought the clownfish. Dimples wondered why the clownfish didn't have to go to the surface to breathe. Later he would learn why and that being different was okay.

After two months, Dimples started to practice breathing on his own. The mother dolphin was so proud, she let him go explore for a while. Dimples swam up to the clownfish and asked, " What's your name?" " My name is Clown," replyed Clown. " How come you don't have to go to the surface to breathe?" asked Dimples. " I'm a fish. You are a dolphin, and dolphins are mammels, and mammels have to breathe air," Clown explained. "Oh," said Dimples, " That explaines a lot."

They were talking so much, they didn't notice that the rest of the dolphins were gone! " Were is everybody?" Dimples asked, "How can we find them?" " You have the ability to whistle to call your mother," Clown explained. " Oh goody. Show me how to do that," Dimples said. " I can't. We are different, remember?" Clown asked. Then a whistle was heard, and Dimples whistled back. Clown followed Dimples as he and his mother whistled back and forth. I found my inner voice. Now I can whistle, thought Dimples.

That is the story of Dimples and how he found his inner voice to lead the way home.
