Polkamotion 2016!
September 15-17

As you may know, a construction project will prevent the annual Polkamotion by the Ocean polka festival from taking place at the Rehoboth Beach City Hall/Convention Center this September. However, by popular demand, we’ve made arrangements to conduct polka dances at the nearby W. T. Spooner American Legion Post 17 Pavilion, 113 American Legion Rd, Lewes, DE. It’s only seven miles from the convention center.

Here’s the polka dance schedule:

Thursday, September 15, 2016: Polka Family will perform from 6 pm – 10 pm.

Friday, September 16, 2016: The Eddie Forman Orchestra with a special Charm City Sound Reunion show will be featured 6 pm – 10 pm.

Saturday, September 17, 2016: The Polka Country Musicians will perform from 6 pm – 10 pm.

Admission is only $15 (kids under 16 are free) for each dance and the full bar serves very reasonably priced drinks. There is plenty of free parking and the pavilion grounds provide ample space for a large crowd. Note that the limited seating in the pavilion is available on a first come, first served basis. Advance tickets are recommended and can be ordered by mail via personal check or money order payable to “Mike Matousek,” 8372 Williamstowne Drive, Millersville, MD. Food will not be available but complimentary snacks will be served.

For the convenience of those lodging in Rehoboth Beach (and those who prefer not to drink and drive), we made arrangements with Jolly Trolley, Inc. to provide ground transportation from the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center parking lot on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights to the pavilion leaving at 5:15 pm. The return trip leaves the pavilion at 10:15 pm. You can reserve and pay for your seat via their web site at www.jollytrolley.com/pay-per-seat or by calling (302) 227-1197. Seats on the bus will be limited on Saturday night, so book now.

After each dance, polka DJ parties will be conducted at Zogg’s Raw Bar and Grill, 1 Wilmington Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE from 11 pm – 1 am. It’s walking distance (three blocks) from the convention center. Join the fun and have a nightcap with your fellow polka partiers!

As usual, the annual “best ball” Polkamotion Open Golf Tournament will be conducted on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Old Landing Golf Course, 20836 Old Landing Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE. We tee off and scramble at 10:00 am so be there by 9:15 am to check in. This fun event is for golfers (and “hackers”) of all skill levels so come on out and have some fun with friends outdoors! Bring your coolers!
