Lewes Historical Society Complex, Lewes, Delaware
LEWES HISTORICAL SOCIETY COMPLEX
Shipcarpenter & Third Streets

The Lewes Historical Society Complex is open to the public Tuesday-Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. from mid-June to Labor Day.
Guided and self-guided tours and tickets are available at the Rabbits Ferry House.
The complex includes:
- Burton-Ingram House (c. 1800) -- a home of hand-hewn timbers, cypress shingles, and beautiful antiques;
- Rabbits Ferry House (c. 1789) -- the low wing is an 18th century farmhouse with original, untouched paneling, period pieces, and a Classic Revival privy out back;
- Thompson Country Store -- built in Thompsonville, Del., in 1800 and operated by the Thompsons as a country store until 1962;
- Plank House -- an early Swedish log cabin furnished as an early settler's cabin that may be the oldest building now standing in Lewes;
- Doctor's Office (c. 1850) -- a medical and dental museum.
All of the buildings here have been moved to the site and restored to preserve the character of "Old Lewes" for generations to come. For more information on the buildings, openings and tours, contact the Lewes Historical Society at 302-645-7670.
