Lewes, Delaware Fishing Report |
Anglers called on Cell Phones Thursday afternoon to let us know that the blues arrived. Blues between 18" and 20" blitzed the beach at 3R's road. We later heard that boats at the indian river inlet caught blues on every cast. Fresh bunker, Mackerel and cut Mullet landed blues up to 5Lbs at the north and south pockets of the inlet.
Mackerel are rapidly moving north and great numbers are being reported between "FA" buoy and the five fathom light.
The first hook and line trout were caught on Lewes beach on peeler oil soaked chicken.
Stripers were hitting poppers, mega baits and bucktails in the back bay of the indian river.
Ted Mears reported 14" trout and a 26-1/2" striper in the Delaware bay. The netters are getting trout to 10 Lbs, this means a good season can be expected. The big ones will start biting when the water temperature reaches above 50'. Ted is also catching largemouth bass at silver lake.
A 13-1/2 Lb striper was caught by Dave Tarburton using chunks of fresh Bunker on chunking hooks at Roosevelt inlet beach.
Tog are showing up in the rocks at the indian river inlet and also at the wall in the Delaware bay.
Nice size perch are being taken from poor man's bridge on bloodworms.
Turtle excluders are now available to comply with the new regulations that go into effect on May 10th. For a free tide chart, please send a self addressed stamped envelope to Bill's Sport Shop, 1566 S. Hwy One, Lewes De. 19958.
