Fishing Report

Water Temp: Lewes - Lewes: 56 ~ De. Lightship: 55' as of May 10, 2001

Dave Hazzard checked in with 3 blues , 17 trout and 2 blowfish caught on Lewes Beach. Craig Lewis hooked up a 15.8 lb. Black Drum at the broadkill on a red shad worm. A 6.50 Lb Trout was caught by Bill Reel at the Broadkill Beach. Many more were reported including a lot of throw backs.

The outer wall , wrecks and rockpiles produced nice size tog. Morris Lapi caught a 6.9Lber on a wreck. At the outer wall, Dave Sawczuk boated a 10.44 Lber and Chuck Cook and Will Sullivan caught 18 Tog up to 7Lbs and released all but three males. All were caught on green crabs.

Roosevelt Inlet produced15 Stripers to 32" for Ted Mears using bucktails. Chuck Cook and Will Sullivan boated a striper on a bass assassin. Dawn Hastings weighed in a 7.94 Lb Trout caught on a rubber worm and corn. Mike Strain caught 2 6Lb Trout on chicken.

From the pier at Cape Henlopen, Steve VanBrandt weighed in a 7.44 Lb Trout and threw back 7 flounder on artificials. Henry Barlow, a 28" Striper and Brian Elliott and Rob Kriner used Fin S Jigs for 19 Flounder, 7 Windowpanes and 1 Shad.

A slow trol in the Indian River Bay turned up 2 to 4 Lb Blues on rattletraps and bucktails for Larry Blain.

Lots of Blowfish were caught on the surf. A 28" Striper placed first in the tournament also winning the largest fish, most points and calcutta. Shawn Evans placed second and first in "Family" with a 22" Trout.

Flounder season is open for the rest of the year ... 17.5" 4 per day. The buoys in the bay and at Massey's ditch are being placed by the Coast Guard and it appears that we will be receiving 1300 rail cars from NY to be put on site #11, wow all good news.
