FISHING REPORT
FROM
BILL BAKER AT BILL'S SPORT SHOP

An area well known by local Tuna fishermen as the Twin Wrecks is a popular fishing spot. Boaters trolling and chunking in the twin wreck area have caught a mixed bag of fish including Blue Fish, Tuna, King Mackerel, Mako, and Wahoo in addition to excellent Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna. The Twin Wrecks lie just 10 miles southeast of the Fenwick Shoal in 84 feet of water.

The Twin wrecks are actually one ship , the SAETIA, A 309 foot steam screw that is generally believed to have been sunk by a mine on November 9, 1918.

Exerpts from the Evening Public Ledger are as follows:

Victims of mine saved by song. Cape May patrol hears SAETIA survivors sound. Despite the fact that they had been in an open boat for nearly forty eight hours and their provisions limited to a tin of biscuits and water, the morale of the fifteen survivors was strong. The singing of the men all of whom seemed to feel by instinct that Germany was beaten, led to their discovery. Many of the rescuers were Philadelphia boys, and they were compelled to plunge into a heavy sea to reach the survivors.
