FISHING REPORT

Chris Lehman, David, Greg and Richard Keck found yellowfin in the Baltimore Canyon catching 2 in the 40 lb. range, trolling ballyhoo. Shark action was good at the Fingers as Heidi Pettyjohn and Walter Moore hooked up 3 mako up to 98 lbs. and 3 blue sharks. A 13' thresher shark was caught at the Triple Wrecks by Mike Grumbein aboard the 'Well Adjusted'. The shark weighed in at 400 lbs. Pandemonium ended up with 15 yellowfin in the Baltimore boating 12 and losing 3 to large mako at the back of the boat. All fish were caught on skirted ballyhoo trolled at 7 knots.
Bottom bouncers at 'B' buoy are reporting thresher action while fishing for sea bass.
In the De. Bay, Ron Krajewski nailed an 8 lb. trout on a jig at the Outer Wall. Alvin Miller used a FinS jig to capture a 36 1/2 lb. striper at the Anchorage. Marshall Brown, age 10, bagged a keeper flounder on green squid at the Broadkill.
News from the Pier includes John Growley with 7 flounder, 3 keepers on minnows; Jake and Max Stickley, flounder on minnows; Jerry Dickerson, 3 trout up to 27" on peelers and croaker up to 16" on chicken taken at the end of high tide.
Stripers are being pulled from the Indian River Inlet on live and rigged eels. Bill Reel brought a 30" fish to the scales. Don Halverson and Brian Elliott also caught keepers.

IT'S SHARKING TIME! Captain Billy Verbanis of the charter boat Reelistic is tying his own shark rigs and offering them to you. These are the same rigs he used to catch three state record Mako's. You can check out these rigs here at Bill's Sport Shop.

Many inquiiries have been received on this site since the state has deposited 340 Red Bird Rail cars from New York. The site is now very large and is attracting many fish. Most of the anglers are catching Sea Bass right now and are reporting good catches. Here are some GPS coordinates for you:

The last deployment was 3-7-02 and there are 11 clusters of Red Bird Cars that total 340 cars. In addition to the cars the site contains Military Track Vehicles and 850 Tons of Off road tire units and a 90 foot Commercial Tug "Delilah" 38 40.433 74 43.386
The "Red Bird Reef " is still growing. The first 400 cars provided over one million square feet of hard substrate for attachment of Blue Mussels, which support reef fish that include Sea Bass and Tau Tog. This site is situated 16.5 miles east of the Indian River Inlet. Enjoy fishing the "Red Bird Reef".

The 29th White Marlin open will be held August 5-9th in Ocean City, Md.
The Indian River Boating Association will hold it's annual Tuna Trolling Tournament July 6-7th.
