Both fresh water and salt water fishing have kept Lewes area anglers busy the past week, according to Capt. Bill Baker of Bill's Sport Shop.
As for the salt water, Baker reported keeper Stripers at the 8A and 8B buoys on the incoming tide with bucktails. Stripers have also been caught at the Overalls Shoals, at the mouth of the Delaware Bay, and in the Indian River Inlet.
In fact, Don Halverson caught a 31-inch, 14.25-pound Striper at the inlet on live eels.
Offshore, boats have been finding mackerel east of the B Buoy at the Pimple and also southeast of that buoy.
In the fresh water, John Korman and his kids caught some nice Largemouth Bass and Crappies at Silver Lake. Using live minnows, they hooked a pair of 3.5-pound largemouth and another 2-pounder, as well as a 13-inch crappie.
Wayne Hutton, meanwhile, landed three Bass and a Pickerel at Burton's Pond using Berkeley Power Worms.
Results have come in from recent casting tournaments in Delaware and Virginia Beach.
In the Delaware state casting tournament, Vickie Conley of Wilmington, Del., won the women's championship with a cast of 277.20 feet. Steve Conley, also of Wilmington, captured the men's championship with a cast of 608.56 feet. Mark Edwards of Break Away Tackle claimed the A Class with a cast of 536 feet.
Edwards also placed second in a casting tournament in Virginia Beach. Regulars Joe and Bobbie Wise of Virginia Beach stopped in to report that they won their respective divisions in Virginia Beach. Joe cast 653 feet to win the men's division while Bobbie cast 347.7 feet to win the women's title.
