Fishing has been pretty decent when there has been good weather in the Lewes area, according to Capt. Bill Baker of Bill's Sport Shop.
The Delaware Bay has produced some nice fish, including a 36-inch Striper hauled in by Barry Sauers at 8A Buoy. Sauers used a live eel.
More stripers were caught by Dick Besche and Roger Williamson and his son, also named Roger. Besche caught a number of undersize Stripers on live eels and bucktails at Overfalls Shoals, and the Williamsons brought in two Stripers from the same spot on live eels.
Striper catches have been reported from other areas, too.
At Broadkill Beach, anglers have started catching some small Stripers, as well as some Trout. The Broadkill River is still yielding Perch. And in the Indian River Inlet, Striper reports are coming in daily, as are Tautog catches. Included among the 'Tog was an 18-incher by Ray Harper. Harper was fishing green crabs.
Reports out of Roosevelt Inlet are that keeper Trout and Flounder are in. And at the Cape Henlopen Pier, Gary Michoud caught keeper Flounder and Trout on squid.
Offshore, Bill Walker caught a 12.5-pound Tautog using green crabs. He was fishing a wreck 30 miles out. Carl Skeen reported that Mackerel are still present about 20 miles due east of Indian River Inlet in 85 feet of water.
In other waters, Wally Borgmann reeled in some nice 'Tog on green crabs at the Ocean City Inlet.
And in fresh waters, Keith Newcomer and Troy Conrad caught 14 Bass and 6 Crappies at Primehook on Culprit Worms, Ronald, Adam and Joseph Nichols hooked some Crappies at Pot Nets Pond, and Steve Wright landed a 20-inch live release Largemouth Bass on a minnow at Silver Lake.
