Despite all of the wind and rain, many fishermen were still able to pick up some nice catches the last two weeks, according to Capt. Bill Baker of Bill's Sport Shop.
At the Cape Henlopen State Park Pier, one of the area's hot spots for the past month, Brian of Bill's Sport Shop limited out on Trout using spec rigs and Maws Tails. John Morris landed a 2.5-pound Flounder off the pier on shad darts and Les Clemmer limited out on Trout and caught a Flounder using spec rigs with green crabs.
In the Delaware Bay, Wallace and Wally Borgmann hooked into plenty of Tautog on green crabs out at the wall and on another trip there, they brought in Trout and Flounder on 1/4-ounce jigheads and peelers. Mike Maxie caught a 4.75-pound 'Tog at the outer wall on clams. On Lewes Beach, Brooks Long caught a 6-pound Weakfish on a spec rig and at Broadkill, Martin Korwonski caught a Trout on chicken and Ryan Sutcliffe caught 9 Perch on a Mepps spinner.
The surf has been producing Bluefish, Sharks and Blowfish.
Offshore, boats have had good luck with Slammer Bluefish and Sea Bass. The Slicker III limited out on Slammers before fishing an ocean wreck and finding Tautog and Sea Bass using sand fleas, green crabs and squid. Barnacle Bob and Billy Walker and the crew of the Top Shelf had a good day on the ocean with big Sea Bass on a wreck.
At the Indian River Inlet, shad darts and live eels have been productive. Shad darts brought Al South a number of Shad and Gary Gordon Shad and Snapper Blues. Live eels, meanwhile, got Eric Rumer 2 Stripers in 3 trips on the north jetty, Larry Lodish a 15.5-pound Striper, and Tom Kovalchick a 25-pound Striper. "Tip Top" Van caught a 6-pound Weakfish on a red and white bomber.
In fresh water, Eric Sarver caught a 4-pound, live release Largemouth Bass at Silver Lake in Rehoboth on a plastic worm.
