The Delaware Bay produced some noteworthy catches this week, according to Kathy Baker of Bill's Sport Shop.
Marlene Bracale weighed in a citation 8.5-pound Flounder taken at the Shears in the Delaware Bay. The Anchorage also was hot with Trout and Flounder biting minnows and squid. And Keith Newcomer hooked 8 Tautog and a Flounder fishing the Outer Wall.
Elsewhere in the Lewes area, Sam Arshansky reported successes on several trips to the Cape Henlopen State Park Pier. He's been catching Trout, Spot and Flounder on bloodworms.
Offshore, Russ Kennedy, chunking at Massey's Canyon, boated two Bluefin Tuna aboard Misty Blue. Scott Batz chunked the Hot Dog and caught two Yellowfin Tuna, one 40 pounds and the other 60 pounds.
Russ Newcomer and Rus Crumbling trolled the Jackspot and came back with 9 Bluefish and 1 King Mackerel. Gus Sapna and Jim Becker, meanwhile, worked their arms out with 80 Sea Bass and Flounder at the "A" Buoy. Ling, Sea Bass and Flounder have been reported just north of "B" Buoy.
In the surf, Scott Johnson surprised the crew at Bill's Sport Shop with a 34-inch Striper taken on squid at 3 Rs Road. Trout, Kingfish, Spot and Croaker have been productive in the surf using bloodworms.
The Indian River Inlet is still as hot as ever, particularly for Stripers.
Don Halverson weighed in a 10-pounder caught on live eels and Steve Wright, on two trips, came back with 36-inch and 34-inch Stripers and a 12.5-pound Bluefish, all caught on live eels.
Many anglers at the inlet are also reporting Stripers at night on Bombers, live eels, windcheaters and Sluggos. Don Beck landed a 4.5-pound Tautog at the inlet on peeler crabs.
In Indian River Bay, Judy and Charlie Mowery caught 5 Flounder in the 15- to 19-inch range at the Little Ditch outside Massey's Landing using minnows.
Bill and Kathy Baker (yours truly), fishing aboard the Slicker III with the family, boated Trout, Flounder and Stripers drifting the inlet with minnows, squid and eels.
Jamie Hurley caught 5 Flounder on squid and peeler oil drifting the bay at 19A, and George Kevlin reeled in a 21-inch Flounder from the bay on minnows.
