Fishing has moved into the backwaters for the winter months with Perch, Catfish and undersize Stripers reported.
Perch are being caught at Cedar Creek on grass shrimp and bloodworms. Perch and Winter Flounder have shown up at the Delmarva Power & Light plant, and Perch, Catfish and undersize Stripers have been taken at Phillips Landing.
Freshwater fishing is also in full swing. Of special note to freshwater anglers is that Gravel Hill Pond will be stocked with Trout on March 1.
Elsewhere in freshwater, Ron Trego reported lots of Pickerel action on white crappie pig heads, and John Korman and Steve Wright hit lots of Pickerel at Burton Pond on minnows.
In salt water, the Cape Henlopen State Park pier is producing undersize Stripers and Skate on squid and bloodworms. And Indian River Inlet has been reporting some action in between all of the storms we've had. Anglers are catching undersize Stripers, Shad and Herring there. Shad darts and bloodworms are the baits of choice.
