Lewes, Delaware Fishing Report
March 27-April 2, 1998

Kathy Baker of Bill's Sport Shop reports that wreck fishing continues to be the place to be offshore as anglers and boats are catching nice Tautog on clams and frozen sand fleas.

Nice weather this weekend, with forecasts calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid- to upper 70s, should send a number of boats in search of Mackerel, as well.

Elsewhere, Baker says Perch, Catfish and undersize Stripers are being taken on bloodworms at the power plant in Indian River. The same fish are being caught in the Broadkill on bloodworms and shrimp.

Burton Pond yielded a 3.75-pound Pickerel for Steve Wright on spinner bait. Nick Trampos, meanwhile, caught White Perch and undersize Stripers on bloodworms at Phillips Landing.

Millsboro Pond proved fruitful for Nick Psaroudakis, who took 5 dozen Crappies and 2 dozen Yellow Perch from there.

At Gravel Hill Pond, which was stocked with 500 Trout by the state Division of Fish & Wildlife twice this month, Aaron Smith reported limiting out on Trout on Power Baits. Other anglers have reported success there with small Rapalas and Rooster Tails.
