The big news this week is the arrival of Bluefish, according to Kathy Baker of Bill's Sport Shop.
Baker reports that anglers have been feeding Blues with eels meant for Stripers at Overfalls Shoals and that surf fishermen have been hitting Blues along the beaches in Bethany and Fenwick Island.
Mullet and squid were working best on the beaches.
In the Delaware Bay, Roger Williamson nailed a keeper Striper at the Rips and keeper Flounder have been taken on bucktails with worms aimed for Stripers.
Tautog are still hot, as well, as Frank Tier, Brian Elliott and Lenny Lappe all limited out with Taug up to 7 pounds at the Outer Wall. Randy and Roger Goomer and "Bird" limited out, too, with Roger boating an impressive 11.5-pounder on green crabs.
Scott Fink caught a keeper Striper at 8B Buoy on a live eel.
At the Broadkill, anglers are reporting White Perch, Stripers and Trout. Lewes beach is yielding Trout on squid and chicken. And the Cape Henlopen State Park Fishing Pier is steadily improving with Flounder up to 17 inches and a few Trout biting squid.
At Indian River, 12-year-old Jonathan Graham caught 5 undersize Stripers and 2 keeper Flounder in the bay, where Flatties up to 19" have been boated. Tim Barnett weighed in a citation 23.25-pound Striper caught at the inlet on a bucktail.
Pickerel, Largemouth Bass, Bluegills and Crappies are abundant in local ponds.
