We love our beaches – and happily, Delaware is home to amazing and dedicated people who love them too!  Come with us to meet the scientists and naturalists working to make our beaches and bays safer, cleaner and all-around more awesome! Decked Out 2017, the annual fund raising event to benefit the Center for the Inland Bays (CIB), will be held on Thursday, August 3rd at the CIB office located on the Indian River Inlet and you are invited to join in the fun. There are a few sponsorship opportunities still available for area businesses and individuals who may want to get their name out there and mingle in a rather intimate setting with over 150 potential customers or clients, and individual tickets sell out quickly. The event features scrumptious samples of light fare and appetizers, donated by some of the most popular restaurants in the area, as well as a mix of beverages to compliment the food. The evening will also include entertainment on the deck, a silent auction with a variety of great items, and delectable desserts. Join hundreds of animal lovers as they take to the streets for the Delaware SPCA’s Annual 5K Run in Dewey Beach. Stay after the race for fun, refreshments and an awards ceremony hosted by The Starboard Restaurant.

Join us on August 5th for CHEER’s 7th Annual Classic Car, Truck and Bike Show. Taking place at the CHEER Community Center on Sand Hill Road, east of Georgetown, the event will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. The day will feature approximately 100 vehicles including Mustangs, Jaguars, Corvettes, Ferraris, Thunderbirds, Porsche, and many others. There will also be business displays, a silent auction, and a live auction. Trophies will be awarded in several categories. This year will celebrate “The History of the Ford” with many Mustangs, T-Birds, Galaxies, Fairlanes, Torinos, Falcons, Broncos and pickups on display. The public is invited to enjoy this free, day-long event. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. A Gourmet Champagne Brunch will be offered with tickets costing $25 and are available at the door. The buffet will feature over 64 feet of food including prime rib, crab dip, carved ham, steamed shrimp, breakfast items and more. Gourmet desserts will also be included. Tickets will be for sale to take home a battery operated replica of an original 1967 Shelby 6T500 Mustang. Tickets to win little “Shelby” are $5 each or five for $20. It will be given away at the end of the day and the winner does not have to be present. Register your vehicle today for only $25 per vehicle or $50 which includes two brunch tickets. Painting with a Twist Kids Camp (Ages 7-12) – August 7 to 11, 2017 – 9 AM to Noon; $200/week, or $40/day.  Campers will explore plants and critters In the Garden all week through paintings, games, and other fun activities. They will paint a 16 X 20 painting each day M-F, and the week will end with an art show Friday afternoon from Noon - 1 pm. Camp fee includes all supplies and snacks each day. The Dewey Beach 5K Buddy Run/Walk and Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017.  The 7:30 AM race begins and ends at the Dewey Beach Lions Club, where the Lion members will serve bacon, eggs, sausage and pancakes free to registered runners.  The breakfast will also be available to non-runners -- $9.50 for adults and $4.50 for children 12 and under.  A walking component has been added this year for individuals who prefer not to run.  The goal of the event is to raise awareness for people with Down Syndrome. All race proceeds will be used to support the programs of Best Buddies Delaware.  The pancake breakfast is a Dewey Beach Lions Club fundraising event.
