Rehoboth Beach Museum Acoustic Jam Night

From July 11, 2019 7:00 pm until July 11, 2019 10:00 pm

At Rehoboth Beach Museum

For a blast from the past, don’t miss the Rehoboth Beach Museum’s re-creation of Acoustic Jam Night, the locally famous open stage held at The Front Page Restaurant & Bar from 1984 through 1993. This year’s event will be Thursday, July 11, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Rehoboth Beach Museum.

“The Front Page was a kind of melting pot of live music in its era. It fostered a lot of different kinds of music, and gave local musicians a chance to express themselves in front of an always-supportive audience,” said Terry Plowman former owner of The Front Page. Plowman will once again emcee Acoustic Jam Night and will perform.

The duo who helped launch the event in 1984, Rim and Kathy Vining, plan to travel from Virginia again this year to join the fun. Rim’s brother, Stuart Vining, and his singing partner, Amy Felker, will also be on hand.

Over the 10 years of Acoustic Jam Night, hundreds of amateur and professional musicians performed for an enthusiastic crowd every Tuesday in the summer and every Saturday in the off-season.

Original players from the Front Page era will return, including Nik Everett, Bill Robertson, Steve Wilson, Ken Thompson and Mike Long, all members of the house band that accompanied many of the performers. Other probable players include: Walt Hetfield, music teacher at Rehoboth Elementary and a former Front Page regular; Bill Richardson, Kent Schoch and others. The Rehoboth Museum’s Acoustic Jam Night sells out every year, so get tickets now by calling (302) 227-7310, or stop by the museum to pay in person.

The event is limited to 90 reservations. The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members and must be paid prior to the event. The museum is located at 511 Rehoboth Avenue next to the visitor center. Parking is available and the museum is handicapped-accessible.

The Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and Museum are a nonprofit organization. The society’s mission is to preserve and showcase artifacts that illustrate the development of the community.

NITE MRKT

From July 18, 2019 6:00 pm until July 18, 2019 9:00 pm

At Big Chill Surf Cantina

https://www.facebook.com/events/taco-reho/nite-mrkt/585094995329729/

Taco Reho, the notorious So-Cal inspired taco truck located on Coastal Highway, is welcoming the summer season with the return of their monthly “Nite Mrkts”. The idea of the evening was born from owner Billy Lucas’ travels in Thailand with a particular interest in the night markets that are held there. A night market is historically a carnival like atmosphere, welcoming locals and nomads to share their craft and sell their merchandise under a retro array of lights, colored tents and the moon. The experience itself is what the truck aims to parallel - far away from Asia.

The market is meant to be all encompassing, showcasing a variety of different artistic outlets. To
include are visual artists, tarot card readers, live painters, alcohol infused cupcakes by Calypso
Creations, Surfboards, custom handbags, street food, and more.

Taco Reho’s first Nite Mrkt is held on May 23rd at 6 pm located at 19406 Coastal Highway in
Rehoboth Beach. For more information, please follow their event page on Facebook.
